The best ongoing compilation series on “the nets” has just had it’s most recent volume released.  If I am being totally honest here, I don’t think volume 42 is nearly as good as his prior one.  But Alarazboy has made up for it by including USA international by day, fighter pilot by night, Stuart Holden to the skills comp.  I think he may be the only American ever featured in this series besides Clint Dempsey.

Congratulations to the US Men’s National Team for securing their sixth straight World Cup berth.  The Yanks will indeed be making the trip to South Africa.  And they did it in impressive fashion being the first team to get a win in Honduras during this qualifying cycle.  Video highlights of the 3-2 victory can be seen below:

What: US v Honduras Closed Circuit Viewing Location
Where: The OCP – Across from the HDC, behind the KFC
When: Saturday October 10 @ 7:00 PM

This is by far the cheapest place you will be able to watch the US v Honduras game in LA. Other places, such as La Cieba in Long Beach are planning on charging $40. The OCP will only be charging $15.

But that’s not all!

Each person who pays the entrance fee will be given a Free ticket to next LA Galaxy home game Saturday October 24th against the Galaxy’s old rival the San Jose Smurfquakes.

But wait, there’s more!

Each person will get 1 free Beer!

That’s one Free ticket, valued at $25 + 1 Free Beer a $5 value + You get to watch the US v Honduras at the ONLY place in LA that will be showing the game broadcast in English.

Sounds like a pretty good deal for the West Coasters.  BTW for those who don’t know the OCP stands for Off Campus Pub a bar frequented before games at the HDC.

So back in 1994, my Junoir year of high school, a guy on my team came back from a trip to Denmark.  With him he brought a kick ass pair of Mizuno boots.  I remember my first thought was that the dude got suckered because Mizuno only made baseball cleats.  But sure enough these were soccer boots.

In a fit of nostalgia I went to the Mizunousa.com website today to look at their cleats, and guess what?  No soccer section.  That’s right Mizuno hates America.  How do I know?  Because their US website looks like it was programmed circa 1998 AND they are hiding their precious boots from us.

Yet I know they make them, I have seen them with my own eyes.  So I decide to try and out think The Man and go to Mizuno.eu, their European site.   I had to infiltrate the system by claiming my region was UK/Ireland, by doing so I was allowed access to their treasure trove of boots.  Not only did I get access, but the website is a beautiful exercise in flash programing.

So the question remains, why doesn’t Mizuno want my US Dollars?  Do they hate us for our freedoms?  Are we unfit to wear their gear?  Are our hairless women so much of a temptation that they refuse to barter with us on principle?
