Nike – Korea Football national team Uniform Launching Movie from Cookie™ on Vimeo.

What’s with all the angry white tigers?  Somewhere just outside of Vegas, Sigfried and Roy and shaking their heads and going, “Too soon.”  The new Korean kit doesn’t seem to have too much flair, pretty basic white kit with a subtle watermark.  If I had just beat the Ivory Coast, I would definitely sport a jersey much more Baller than this.

Umbro recently teamed up with English rock band Kasabian to strategically unveil their new 2010 England Away shirt live on stage in Paris.  Listen to the sound of  “Boooo’s” rain down upon them as the French notice what is going on on stage.

Umbro look to have gone retro, with the new kit having a red base and white cuffs.  The jersey is simplistic yet a powerful homage to the many players who wore it before Rio and Rooney:

Back to England this week as we dive down below The Premiership for this edition of Vintage 10Shirt.  Most American football fans remember Leicester City as the team Kasey Keller first gained notoriety, but the club has a rich history dating back to 1884.  The club was originally founded under the name Leicester Fosse.

Today we will feature their 1956-61 away shirt.

Vintage 10Shirt Of the Week: Aberdeen 1983

If you are like me, you are always down to track the fashion trends in football.  I love to see how designers can balance innovation with looks like Italy and Brazil, that have an expectation of classicism.

Umbro’s Senior Designer David Blanch recently penned a great retrospective covering his ten years with the company.  In it he looks back on the trends that have come and gone, along with a look into the future.  It’s a really good read if you have the time and want to know what goes throught the minds of the men/women that design the kit of our favorite teams.

Umbro’s Decade Of Kits

Wow China.  Wow…

Way to keep it ultra preppy like an all boys school.  Wouldn’t want to rock the boat at all here would ya?  If your kits are supposed to make a statement of how you wish to portray yourself to the world what are you saying?

“Wanna meet up after arithmetic and go over the syllabus?”

I would single one of you out, but with those haircuts, I’m afraid I can’t tell any of you apart.

Loving this video for the insight it gives to the rest of us of some of the work that goes into planning and building a new kit.  Someone tell Nike to do a full 10 minute video on all the behind the scenes stuff that the designers go through in the planning of these.  I think that would be really cool, myself.  For now enjoy this condensed version.

In celebration of 10Shirt’s contest currently running in partnership with SetantaUS, we are featuring a vintage jersey of a current EPL team.  You can’t win this old school look, but you can potentially win the current Tottenham 09/10 jersey by following the directions here.  OK, enough about modern times, let’s jump in the way back machine and visit the days of Don Draper, the 1960’s.  Today we feature the 1963-69 Tottenham Hotspur FC away jersey.

Tottenham-vintage-web

Geek Info: This is the first away shirt used after Tottenham’s historic achievement of being the first British team to ever win the Europena Cup Winner’s Cup.  It was changed from white to the dark look featured here as Hotspur decided to make the white jersey solely a home affair.  The 1963 kit was also the first one in Tottenham history that featured a rounded collar.  All kits prior used some combination of either a V-Neck or collar.

Who Wore It? Jimmy Greaves, Bobby Smith, Cliff Jones, Phil Beal, Alan Gilzean, Allen Mullery, Terry Venables,   Pat Jennings
