The closest I ever came to being a goalkeeper was when I tried out for the movie The Big Green (true story), but this ad makes me want to get between the sticks and see if I can stop a few shots. Seriously, these gloves look great. If they perform as good as they look, then they have to be a great set of gloves.

I’m usually not a big whore for one company’s football equipment over another one, but Puma has always held a special place in my football conscience and on my feet. Most of the players I follow closely wear Puma boots and are sponsored by Puma, so I usually get a good look at what is new from their gear line and clothing line.

I came across this ad a few weeks ago and haven’t been able to get it out of my head. The ad reminds me of why I love this company and their equipment; it’s clean, not overly flashy, but still has style. Plus, the African kits the ad introduces look amazing. Check it out.

Say what you want about the French, we have heard it all before.  But one thing they have always gotten right is fashion.  And no football team in France is hitting it out the park in the clothing department right now on the regular like Bordeaux is.  Their entire line is busting at the seams with modern, fashion forward looks that leave the rest of the world behind. In most cases, unless you knew what to look for, you can barely even tell that they are officially licensed football merchandise.

Hell they even got Cravates! That’s french for ties Son… TIES!  How is everyone else supposed to keep up when you are putting out high fashion neck wear?  What’s next ascots?

It’s almost not even fair that a team as good as they are on the field can also transition right into being clothing models.  Seriously, can someone drop some reality on them?

Anyway, here are some of the Bordeaux looks that you should be sporting to the clubs this Fall.

Lets face it there are everyday social circumstances where your favorite team’s game jersey is not all that appropriate attire.  Events like say… first dates.  You don’t want her to know that you’re going to ignore her for hours at a time every weekend from the first moment she sees you, right?  Instead camouflage your obsession for your favorite team by wearing a more casual style from the side you support.

Here are some everyday fashion looks that I’m going to pass along to all of you in hopes you may get some ideas in how not to scare off your next potential lady-friend.

Potential new tag line: “10Shirt- Helping Footy Folks Get Freaky Since 2009″

I know I am risking blowing my wad early here, but this is seriously the best looking Official T-Shirt out there in the EPL right now.  Trust me I have looked.  Usually “Official” gear is watered down and made for the average 50 year old male that has already been beaten down by his woman life.  But here you have a shirt that would not look at all out of place in Bumpy Pitch’s line.  Give it up for Hull City for getting this right.  Now Phil Brown?  That’s another matter entirely.

First off, no one has popped a collar since Kanye’s first album and secondly no one has done it right since Zack Morris.  Now this look isn’t exactly my style, I tend to be more of a minimalist, but I know there is a market for it.  How do I know?  Because every time I smell an Abercrombie store from the sidewalk I see dudes wearing stuff just like this coming out of it.  So take what you will from it, but trust me, someone right now is already getting their Barclay card out.

I know what you’re thinking, Jrodius, this is not subtle at all like you said I should be around the ladies.  I know what I said.  But sometimes a woman appreciates a bold man.  And it takes one to pull this look off.  If you dare… try it out.  If you strike out, both the girl and the shirt were always out of your league.

So back in 1994, my Junoir year of high school, a guy on my team came back from a trip to Denmark.  With him he brought a kick ass pair of Mizuno boots.  I remember my first thought was that the dude got suckered because Mizuno only made baseball cleats.  But sure enough these were soccer boots.

In a fit of nostalgia I went to the Mizunousa.com website today to look at their cleats, and guess what?  No soccer section.  That’s right Mizuno hates America.  How do I know?  Because their US website looks like it was programmed circa 1998 AND they are hiding their precious boots from us.

Yet I know they make them, I have seen them with my own eyes.  So I decide to try and out think The Man and go to Mizuno.eu, their European site.   I had to infiltrate the system by claiming my region was UK/Ireland, by doing so I was allowed access to their treasure trove of boots.  Not only did I get access, but the website is a beautiful exercise in flash programing.

So the question remains, why doesn’t Mizuno want my US Dollars?  Do they hate us for our freedoms?  Are we unfit to wear their gear?  Are our hairless women so much of a temptation that they refuse to barter with us on principle?
