Vintage 10Shirt of the Week: England’s Goalkeeper Uniform 1996-1997
Author: FCShambles | Filed under: GearToday we feature the one of the ugliest kits known to the football world, the 1996-1997 England goalkeeper uniform. While most fans would love to forget about the heinous kits of the 1990s, I prefer to look back to remind myself that today’s kits are light years better than many of those of decades past.

Geek Info: This shirt was worn for only three games (in both home and away matches), and was the last of the multi-colored shirts worn by England’s goalkeepers in the 1990s. Prior to this shirt, a red jersey had not been worn by an England keeper since 1970. To complete the ensemble, the keeper also wore a bright pair of mind-numbing matching shorts.
In the three games this shirt was worn, England conceded only one goal, keeping two clean sheets.
Who Wore It? David Seaman, who has the distinguished honor of being the only player to ever wear this shirt.
Captain: Alan Shearer
Manager: Glen Hoddle
