OK, consider me skeptical on this one. Lotto, a company you probably haven’t owned any gear from in 15 years, is trying to market a new innovation. It is what they call Twist-N-Go. The theory behind it seems to be a stud on the front of the shoe that is not locked down to a fixed position. Allowing the stud to pivot and spin as your foot does. They claim that it could limit injury as well as give you better cutting movement.
I’d be really anxious to hear from someone that has any first hand knowledge of this product. While an interesting idea, I have to think that a piece of hardware that is movable like that must wear and break quicker than the rest of the boot.

Check it out here (there is about a 5 second delay at the beginning):

I remember Umbro marketing a pair of boots with a similar tactic years ago – I think just after WC98 because the ads had a young Michael Owen in them. It was something like the “Umbro Vortex” or “Umbro Firestorm”, which had a circular stud design on the forefoot.
And considering how many boots currently employ that design, I wouldn’t say it was a success. Lotto’s got a new take on the idea though, so we’ll see.
The “Firestorm” definitely used the design, though there were probably others from Umbro:
